Chapter 6: A Simple Question.

Today I just have one simple question. How do I start? I know everything about my story but how to start it and that is the same problem I always have.

Chapter 5: It's been a long time!

It's been nearly eighteen months since the last time graced this blog. I really hope that no one thinks that because I haven't been hear with them that I have abandoned what we all hope to one day acheive. It just seems that life can do more than get in the way if you let it. That was my folly, but I have returned. In rare form as well. Now fueled with new thoughts and renewed ambitions I return to finaly finish what I set out to do so many years ago. I promise not to abandon you again and I promise to finish.

The new story is the same as the old. New characters, new setting but the same heart. The same soul. I make one final promise. To finish.

Chapter Four: Dealing With Time

I suppose the hardest part about writing now is dealing with finding time to do it. I know what I want to write and I know what I want to say but I can't seem to find the time to put words to paper. I work to much at my job and I sleep to much at home to really do anything important. Grrrr. I'll figure it out though untill next time.

Chapter Three: My Story

Well to begin today I think I will explain the absence I have had from this blog. A large part of it is due to the fact that I have had writers block. I'm stuck. I've put my character Edward into a new world, surrounded by danger and I have no idea how to get him to the next part of the story. He is surrounded by nothing on all sides except for a large forest to the west. I know were he is going, he is going to head north because that is were Chicago is, but how to get him there. I know the distance is considerable and that it would take him to long to walk there, I also know that there is a small village on the way that he is going to stop at but how to get him even that far. I think that maybe there will be a battle that will erupt around him and he will flee towards the village, but he has no food, water or money so the problems are considerable. Once he gets to Chicago I know what is going to happen. I know I want to avoid a lot of the fantasy and science-fiction stereotypes, like dream sequences and unatural powers due to destiny and the force...ect. I don't want knights and generals and the such, I want real human drama in a realy fucked up world. It's already been pretty good at blending the two genre's together into one. I'm really interested to see what happens next.

Chapter Two: The Next Phase

Welcome the real begining of the journey. Now that the introductions are done we can get down to the real business at hand. Writing. My Stories often extend from current events both around the world and in my own home. I then do my best to translate it into a fantasy realm and that is both new in landscape but also in the genre. I am tired of fantasy stories inhabited by kindly kings and omniscient wizards with half-wit halfling side kicks, or any creature with the word half or dark in its name. Fantasy is by far the easiest genre of fiction to create a story in, namely because there is infinate possibilities. Why is it then that no one seems to want to come up with anything new anymore? I try and sometimes I succeed, like this novel. That doesn't mean there can't be wizards or dragons. Look at Harry Potter. Your personal feelings on the series aside you must admit it puts a great new swing on the old diatribes. Ultimately what I would love to see is a whole new world, a complete reinvention of what we call fantasy literature. I don't know for sure how to do it but I would love some ideas. Lets brainstorm and see what we can come up with. Once again...Good Night!
